With "Move For Hunger", Select offices will collect food, raise awareness.
PEORIA, IL -- Jim Maloof/Realtor has joined with a national hunger relief organization to help bring relief to the hungry in central Illinois.
Four Jim Maloof/Realtor offices – Peoria, Pekin, Bartonville and Washington – will partner with Move For Hunger to collect non-perishable food donations that will then be delivered to area food banks. At the same time those offices will be raising awareness about the 1.7 million people in Illinois, including nearly 650,000 children, who don’t know where their next meal will come from.
“We are thrilled to have so many Jim Maloof/Realtor offices working with us to fight hunger,” said Max Lowy, director of Move For Hunger’s Real Estate Program. “Their enthusiastic support helps us serve the local community and deliver food to those who need it most.”
Michael Maloof, president of Jim Maloof/Realtor, said his company was aware of the hunger problem locally and felt it needed to do something. Being the exclusive central Illinois partner for Move For Hunger “gave us the opportunity to help our community in a meaningful way.”
As a partner of Move For Hunger, agents at the four Jim Maloof / Realtor offices will provide hunger awareness materials to clients and urge them to donate unwanted non-perishable food items during their moving process that would otherwise be thrown-out. Community members can also drop-off non-perishable food items at any of the participating Jim Maloof/Realtor offices.
Those offices are at Shoppes at Grand Prairie, 5017 W. American Prairie Drive in Peoria; 100 N. Main St. in Washington; 1202 W. Garfield in Bartonville and 2900 Court St. in Pekin.
Move For Hunger, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, then collects the non-perishable food items and delivers them to food banks all across North America. To date Move For Hunger has delivered over 4.1 million meals to food banks across North America.
