JimMaloof/REALTOR and Crowne Realty Leadership took a short trip to Spring Bay this morning. Until about a year ago, Spring Bay’s claim to fame was the delicious tenderloin at the Village Inn. That was, until native son and entrepreneur, Kim Blickenstaff and his childhood pal, Dwayne Atherton decided to realize their dream along the wetlands of the Illinois River. Per Kim’s website describing Sankoty Lakes Resort:
It will be a four-season event venue featuring fishing and off-site hunting – “cast and blast,” Atherton described it — along with bird watching, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, scuba diving and more. Hiking trails will be a mainstay, including elevated boardwalks through a 40-acre wetland area. Guides and outfitters will be available to enhance those experiences.
This description falls short of what we saw on our tour. Sankoty Lakes WILL be a vacation destination. And it is simply too well-thought-out and designed NOT to succeed. In other words, get ready for the world to meet Spring Bay and Sankoty Lakes!
On our tour, Dwayne Atherton spoke to the very intentional design of Sankoty Lakes as a place you could come and stay for a week in one of the tricked-out “glamping” tents or in the RV park “and never have the same experience two days in a row.” The fishing alone is divided into at least ten separate styles – including options fishermen would normally have to travel out of state for including dedicated fly fishing areas and and an active trout stream. So much careful thought has been put into fishing that Blickenstaff and Atherton are banking that it will attract sportsmen from all corners of the country – and beyond.
Construction continues – as we saw on our visit – but, the pure scope of what they’ve been able to accomplish in one year – with a relatively small crew – is just astonishing. Atherton indicated, once operational, Sankoty Lakes Resort will employ well over 50 people, including guides and experts to enhance every visitor’s experience.
Our Leadership team’s takeaway is that amazing things are happening in our own backyard. The promise of an experience like the one offered to visitors of Sankoty Lakes is the kind of thing that will attract not only visitors – but residents hoping to live close to unique attractions and outdoor recreation. We will be watching Blickenstaff’s dream unfold in Spring Bay very closely!

REAL Trends + Tom Ferry Announce 2020 America’s Best Real Estate Professionals List 8th Annual Real Estate Ranking
Multiple Jim Maloof/REALTOR® Agents and Teams were Named to REAL Trends + Tom Ferry America’s Best Real Estate Professionals in the State of Illinois and Nationally.
Brian Monge, Eileen Huber, Julie Bowald, The Monge Home Team And The Ryan Blackorby Team were all recognized amongst America’s most productive sales associates as a part of REAL Trends + Tom Ferry America’s Best Real Estate Professionals, a ranking report produced by REAL Trends and Tom Ferry International. They are now members of the “America’s Best Real Estate Agents”.
REAL Trends America’s Best Real Estate Professionals ranks over 14,500 residential real estate professionals solely based on their excellence in real estate sales during calendar year 2019. All production numbers are independently verified by a third party to ensure accuracy and report integrity. This group of highly successful real estate sales agents represents the top 1 percent of all real estate practitioners in the United States.
“Congratulations to all of the Agents and Teams from Jim Maloof/REALTOR® who made the America’s Best list,” says Tom Ferry, owner and founder of Tom Ferry International. “I have the pleasure of working with successful real estate professionals day in and day out, and I know all the hard work, late nights, and huge effort that goes into achieving such incredible results,” says Ferry. “There are multiple ways to become successful in real estate. Yet, despite the differences, the real estate professionals on this list have one thing in common—they are simply the best. Congratulations to all recipients of this prestigious recognition.”
State and National Rankings were based Single Family Home Sales for 2019.
In just a couple of days from the moment the St. Jude Fundraising Office asked Michael Maloof for his Company’s help, agents from Jim Maloof /REALTOR and Crowne Realty had mobilized and were ready for the challenge…and they did it for the Kids of St. Jude – continuing a long legacy of care, started by their founder, Jim Maloof.
You see, ticket sales for one of the area’s largest annual fundraising events for St Jude, The Dream Home Giveaway were alarmingly slow due to setbacks resulting from the Covid-19 crisis. Not sure of how to salvage the event – without the ability to gather physically for a true telethon – and with restrictions placed on almost all of their fundraising efforts – St. Jude reached out to a strong ally: Jim Maloof/REALTOR and Crowne Realty. They knew that these two companies were passionate about their support for St. Jude and knew that they could be counted on to step up to meet the challenge. So, the team quickly put together a plan and, on short notice, started making phone calls to their spheres of influence. What happened was nothing short of amazing…
While still balancing their own workloads, already stressed by Corona Virus limitations and protocol, agents reached out to clients, friends, family members, local leaders and fellow Realtors and, in less than 24 hours, managed to sell $32,000 in Dream Home Giveaway tickets. Within 48 hours, all of the tickets for the Giveaway were sold out.
Many agents from both companies participated. In particular, the efforts of Lorrie Palladini, who generously accounted for 55 of the 320 total tickets sold and Suzanne Miller, the top ticket-seller with 74 tickets and winner of an iPad donated by Adam Perkins courtesy of Home Warranty Inc. captured the spirit of Jim Maloof’s love for this charity – and the mission he passed onto his son, his family – and most who came in contact with him – to eradicate these awful diseases that steal our children in the dawn of their lives.
We are open for business. Agents are adapting to the challenges being presented by Covid-19 to safely assist their clients. Luckily, we’ve trained for this for our entire careers.
The leaders of a newly combined real estate company are bullish on the housing markets in Bloomington-Normal and Peoria, despite slowing sales and a dip in prices in 2019.
There were 2,408 home sales in McLean County in 2019, down 6.2% from 2018, according to Illinois Realtors. The average price of a home fell 3.6% to $159,000.
Low inventory continues to be a drag on the Bloomington-Normal market, especially in the $150,000 to $275,000 price range, said Tammy Heard, executive vice president at Peoria-based Jim Maloof/Realtor, which recently merged with Heard’s Bloomington-based Crowne Realty. There’s also been less corporate relocation, she said.
